N-TUTORR is an IADT initiative bringing together student support services — health, counselling, academic help, and emergency resources — into a single platform. I joined the project as UI designer, responsible for translating the team's research and wireframes into a finished visual interface.

The challenge was to create a design language that felt warm and approachable rather than clinical, while remaining clear and functional enough to guide students who might be stressed, overwhelmed, or in crisis.

Working from established wireframes, the focus was on building a visual system that could carry consistent meaning across very different contexts — from browsing academic support to accessing emergency contacts.

The * asterisk emerged as the platform's central motif, used to communicate the urgency and availability of support throughout the interface. Repeated across screens, it functions as a visual shorthand — telling students that help is present and accessible without relying on language alone.

The visual identity centres on a palette of salmon, sage green, dusty purple, and electric yellow — colours chosen to soften the institutional associations typically found in health and support contexts. Circular Std was used throughout, pairing bold display weights for headings with lighter book weights for body content.

The emergency screen received particular attention: large type, restrained colour, and a stripped-back layout ensure that critical contact numbers are immediately legible for a user under significant stress.

To accommodate the wide range of needs and emotional states that students might be experiencing when they access the platform, a keyword search function was implemented. This allows users to find relevant resources and support options by entering terms that resonate with their current feelings or situations, such as "anxiety," "academic stress," or "loneliness."

The search results are designed to be clear and concise, providing direct links to appropriate services and resources without overwhelming the user with information. This feature enhances the platform's accessibility and ensures that students can quickly find the help they need, even if they're not sure where to start.
